Kick -

A simple inside crescent kick. It seems pretty straightforward but in reality there are so many different concepts that you have to think about. Starting in a bow stance, you bring your leg up into a crane, then it’s sort of like you wip your leg up and down back into a crane, then finally back into a bow. Although when you wip your leg up, you need to have an intent of when your striking. Either when your coming down(for inside) and going up(for outside). And even when breaking down it still seems kinda simple but there are so many more different aspects to this kick. As what your foot is doing, the positioning, what your striking with, and more.  Just all the small details that you have to think about is so incredible and amazing. This goes for literally anything in Kung fu. There are so many different things your always having to think about.  -numbers-  sit-ups - 1555 push-ups - 1675 hand - 153 weapon - 178 Aok - 775 Kilometers - 835 blogs - 42 + 1 sparring - 163

Priorities-

I have been thinking a lot about time recently, I find myself thinking I have to much time on my hands. I used to think about how I never had enough time to do anything but now after thinking about sifu’s post it’s more of a, It’s not high on my priorities. And I want to change that for somethings. Kung fu is really high on my list as it makes me really happy(I think that’s the reason of it being really high, as it also lines up with some of my morals). As well as I try and make an effort for people I care about. This also boosts the positive of the people around me. As it shows I care about them too. But for other smaller things like working out… I want it to be higher on my list but it’s not. And I need to work on developing it as a greater priority. I think to do this I need to see why. Why am I working out? And there are plenty of reasons that are really good but nothing that sticks as much as I want them to. As well as this over the break I literally did nothing but relaxed and we...

lion -

I have been adding more of a personality into lion dancing recently and it has been kinda hard as I don't really know what I look like (I have not recorded myself, as thinking back now that is a good idea). This leads me to think of a character I am playing. Say I'm a "kid" I will act more hyper and jumpy, but if im a older person I will move slower and more sharp. But this has been harder to find different ways of dancing. Although it has also been really fun as I really enjoy lion dancing and all the aspects I get to do well dancing. I truly love lion dancing and never want to lose the joy it brings me. All the little details you can add in just a few steps.  -numbers-  sit-ups - 1485 push-ups - 1615 hand - 145 weapon - 178 Aok - 750 Kilometers - 795 blogs - 40 + 1 sparring - 163

Jumping through hoops? No.

Jumping? Or paving!  At first my board breaks were becoming to feel like a hoop I had to jump through to achieve my black belt(without white strips). I couldn’t seem to see the value in them as I kept failing and not breaking the boards. And by not breaking my boards over and over again my mental health got low. As I thought I was never going to be able to achieve the break.  But as I was practicing a few days before I was planning to break them I was told something. “Take a breath and lower your centre”. So that’s what I did. I took a deep breath and told myself what I was doing and where I was. And all of a sudden my mind quieted down and I could concentrate on what I was really doing. I could feel when I was supposed to be rotating, when I should release my power, when I should be hitting the board.  Board breaking no longer felt like a hoop. I was just flooded with information and different insights I had not thought of before. There are so many different ways you can...

Struggling, mornings -

I have been struggling with my mental health a lot more recently. I find when I wake up im already feeling exhausted and not wanting to do anything. This has been really hard because I have a really hard time doing anything, including staying awake at school which has impacted me in a really negative way as it’s just a long repetitive cycle until I can break it.  But recently I have started working out with my dad in the morning. This has been extremely helpful on all cylinders! For starters I have mostly stopped falling asleep in my classes at school! That has helped me on understanding the lesson more, as I didn’t miss half of it. In addition to waking up early I have cut back on taking naps which has been a bit hard as I am often really tired after school.. In not taking naps I tend to go to sleep a lot faster at night. As well I have been in better moods overall in the morning as I’m starting my day off in a more productive and positive way! I used to work out in the mornings b...
