The shift of to much, to two little.

At open training and the second degree brown class this weekend I could myself focusing on flying side heel.  Am I not jumping? Am I not kicking at the right time? When is the right time? Why am I now over extending? Is that why my hip and knee hurt? And so on and so on.  I feel like I have so many questions about the flying kicks. But those ones are just my mind spiraling, and overthinking. I find that I find something in Kung fu (like a technique) and just overthink it until I like have over done it and messed the original purpose. But some of the thinking dives are the complete opposite. Like I could probably talk about the punch for so long and just get so happy. But I always stop myself from going on and on. taking about the punch also always makes me feel so happy! I think I'm finding that when throwing the flying kick im overextending to try and fully feel the expansion. This is leading to the 'hurt' I feel afterwards. As well as I think I am throwing my kick to late...

Complexity

Last wednesday in tai chi my foot was in a lot of pain because of this I was really paying attention to where my weight was going and where it was. As a result of being over conscious of that I found I was sinking down when I shouldn't have been. When is reality I should have been just adjusting my hips, like opening them in the move ahead. Then when I was going through both one and two I found I was doing it differently in two then I was in one and now I'm confuzzled on it... But just the complexity of different moves in kung fu and tai chi are just so cool, and really interesting to think about. Especially the simple ones when you start adding different trajectories.  push ups - 426 Sit ups - 550 Hand form - 5 Weapon - 20 Kilometres - 0 Aok - 0 Blogs - 2 +1 Sparring - 0  Personal :  Gratitude - 2 Journaling - 1 Keeping room clean - got quite messy this week but just cleaned it up Meditation - 15 min Full lion dance - 0 Drumming - 0 Buddha - 0 Lion feelings blogs - 0

I am in a community

I am a community.  I missed this week of kung fu as I was sick and didn't want to give it to anyone else. I found myself really missing kung fu, even though I was still doing it at home. I think I was more of missing the connections that kung fu has helped me create, with students, peers and teachers. Creating a connection with people in kung fu has helped my love for it grow and grow even more. I find I often think about how other peoples training is going and how I can help them get to where they want to go. In classes I find I care more about the individual then how well they perform in kung fu. I'm not saying I don't care about how people do in kung fu but if they are having a rough day and I know this then i'm going to try and use kung fu to make their day at least a little better. Like I often ask people if they are excited for kung fu and then don't let them give me no as an answer. I find I having a good connection with people will help them with learning an...

Lost again -

I have already been feeling like I’m letting people down for this year, including myself. I haven’t really started on my requirements, as it was an awkward stage of overlap and now I find myself sick… I feel like I’m failing this year and it literally hasn’t even started. And I know this is not a good perspective to have going into the year. It’s extremely hard for me to stay accountable when I’m the only one telling myself to do things. I find it so much more helpful when people around me keep me accountable and are there to continually push me on. Even if it’s just a small text or something just saying “ do this”, I find it’s helpful when it’s directed.  As for the banquet, I found it just felt funny this year? Like it was just like I was watching a repeat of last year. And as there were more things I was actively participating in (awards for kids, kids demos, our demo, lion dance, red packets, food stuff, set up, pack up(after) and so on). I felt like I was constantly doing some...

Come to an end?

As the banquet is getting closer I am starting to feel the anxiety of needed to get everything “perfect”. In my forms, needing to make sure I’m snaping my spear and needing to work on one of my kicks(thanks for the feedback sihing.) as well as making sure I know the lion dance routine extremely well. As we only have two practices left before the day of. I am quite nervous. But at the same time I know whatever happens I know my team and the people around me will have my back and will guide me through.  It feels like lots of things are coming to an end right now, as it’s the Chinese new year and I’m done all of my school exams on Monday then I will be ready to start the next semester! Well there have been some ups and downs this year and I haven’t made all my numbers, I’m still extremely proud of everything I did end up achieving! As I know I could have done more but without Kung fu and the team pushing me on I would not have been able to do anything I did this year. I’m so thankful ...

Sparring

This weekend I went to open training and it was really good! I feel like I got a lot of progress done. I practiced my spear form and I began to over think one of the moves but I ended up getting clarification and then just decided to let it be for a bit and practiced the other moves. as well as that I also practiced some of my other forms which was really good because I needed a little refresher, that included tai chi as I have missed the last few classes as school diplomas are coming up and I had to study. I also practiced some lion dancing stacks which was good as we plan to put them into the banquet dance. But finally and something that made my weekend was I got to spare which was really fun and I learned a lot and just generally think I am getting better at it. One of the sparring matches we had agreed to do NO legs which was a bit of a challenge as kicking is one of my main defences. So this was really good and forced me to work on something that I normally shy away from.  -nu...

Seeing a friend

From saying this year I was going to be more positive and striving for that. I have been having a really rough time. Something that was a highlight for like the month was I got to see my friend yesterday. This was really important to me as I haven’t seen them for a good month or 2. I have had a lot more on the go I guess, including school as we have diplomas this week and next week, and just my mental health. So seeing my friend was really good for me, and I think the smaller things (like seeing a friend) can be really helpful and help change your perspective.  I have been really not doing good over the last little bit and well I’m still going to Kung fu and working on things it all seems sort of like a blur? I don’t know if that makes sense but it just feels like I’m going through motions and not truly here.  -numbers-  sit-ups - 1735 push-ups - 1885 hand - 190 weapon - 285 Aok - 1025 Kilometers - 1015 blogs - 49 + 1 sparring - 177
