Procrastination

This week is my last week of school(till next fall). I am quite excited for the summer, although I have a few things I need to do. For instance I have to talk to my manager to get more shifts at work. I need to start making a proper schedule with my sleep, Kung fu, and eating.  These are all things that I have just been letting procrastination get the best of.  I have been trying to not let procrastination get the better of a change in schedule. So I have been struggling with a few things but I’m still here, and trying to do things.  push ups - 1458 Sit ups - 1052 Hand form - 22 Weapon - 28 (struggling to start.) rope dart

I have been working on my beta rope dart form more recently. As before I was still just trying to get used to how to move the rope dart. But now I have a small base to work with. This feels really good, as I haven't been doing the best this year so far. It feels like even though some things may be falling apart I'm still here. I'm still trying. And that alone feels good. Because I know I could be doing better and I still want to strive for better but I also don't want to disregard what I am doing. I have a small foundation to my form and its not perfect or anything but that's okay, it's a beta form and I know I will continue to work and thrive for better. Not to long of a blog, but I wanted to make sure I wrote something.  push ups - 1411 Sit ups - 1035 Hand form - 6 Weapon - 5 (struggling to start.) struggling update

The start of the week was going good, I was doing my 10 pushups, but by Friday I fell off again.. I hate admitting this. But I am struggling. I feel like I should be up on the top of the world and accomplishing everything. But that's just not true. I'm really struggling even with simple day to day things. Let alone kung fu things. I'm trying to keep blogging as if I stop it will be even harder to start up again... I do have days where things go good. I get things done. But it's the off days where things start to fall off the wagon.  I have been battling with my mental health for a while now. Every time it gets a bit better I relax again and don't think about it. And the once I crash again I don't remember how I got out of the crash in the first place. This has been a constant battle for years. I want to have help but I also realize that this is my battle and like the saying 'you can lead a horse to water but cant force it to drink' (or something like tha...

Doing little things

I have had a hard time with keeping my mental health in check. Like I have a hard time doing things as I know it’s not where I should be. But this mindset just sets me up for failure before I even start. I have been trying to start anew and switch my mind into thinking I have to start somewhere. Even if the ‘somewhere’ isn’t where I want it to be, I have to build the consistency. The consistency is something I struggle with, as it feel like I should be doing more and then I add more and it just avalanches… Something that’s was mentioned was doing just 10 push-up and sit-ups everyday. I know this isn’t where I should be. I have to start somewhere and build the consistency. I will do 10 everyday, and blog about how it works next week.  push ups - 1281 Sit ups - 1015 Hand form - 6 Weapon - 0 (I'm still getting used to the weapon and still need to make my form.) Tai chi

This past week I got the opportunity to come to tai chi in person (the week before I was just online). But being able to come back was so much fun. I have missed the beginning of the start of two and the ending of one, because of school and work and just some personal stuff I had been struggling with. Being able to come to tai chi again showed me how much I was missing. Almost immediately I found I had a LOT of questions and clarifications. I was only able to ask 3 of my questions but with those questions I was able to start to understand and work on the start of 2. (Two is my favorite so I'm sad that I didn't join right at the beginning...) I'm going to make more of an effort to make those tai chi classes as they provide so much value to me.  One of the questions I asked at class was I was feeling like I was coming into my shoulder and how do I get around doing that. I don't know exactly what the move is called but its from the temple punch into the backfist, vertical ...

small intents

The small motion of the elbow. When I practice a technique or application I tend to focus on the part of my hand I'm hitting with or with my wrist driving threw/forward. I notice this the most in tai chi, where my wrist is the main driver. As in its what leads my arms. But there are certain techniques that involve the elbow. By switching my focus on my elbow rather then my wrists it changes the move drastically(or at least I find so). Although I find this messes me up sometimes when I hyper fixate on my elbow. But its also just something interesting to think about. How with even the smallest shift in intent can change something drastically.  Another one that I find changes with intent is the last few moves in Lao gar. With the check, then to a cat-stance. I don't know if you'll know what section I'm talking about. But I find I imagen my energy flowing in a straight line. As I am moving straight threw instead of thinking of spinning as I turn my hips. This helps me make ...

rope dart

This year I have chosen to do the rope dart for my weapon. I have been doing small exercises to help get used to how to use it. I have also added in some foot work(thanks to sehing ward!) which I have found makes me have to really focus on how long I let the rope go. This has been one of the major challenges with the rope dart so far. Being able to swing it without hitting the floor(or the ceiling…). But so far u have been really enjoying working with it, I think and hope picking this weapon will help me gain more control and consciousness about my soundings! Plus how to use a longer weapon as an extension( not that I haven’t before).  push ups - 971 Sit ups - 960 Hand form - 0 Weapon - 5 Kilometers - 0 Aok - 30 Blogs - 1 + 1 Sparring - 0 Personal :  outside walks - 0 stretching plan - 0 strengthening plan - 0
